Growing up, Veronica was always surrounded by cars of all kinds, good & not so good. Veronica's father, Jorge L. Vega, was in the car industry and owned his own auto mechanic shop in Perth Amboy, NJ. Jorge's passion was classic cars. When Veronica was young, he purchased this 1970 El Camino SS from the junkyard (pictured). It was in bad condition. But Jorge had a vision and was determined to make it happen. It took Jorge about 10 years to fully change this car to operating and in beautiful condition. Along the way, Veronica took advantage of her father’s time while he worked after hours in her childhood home garage and spoke to him about school, tests, friendships and even dreams. Her father would in turn teach her the difference between a wrench and a screwdriver. Fast forward some years, Armando and Veronica met in 1999. Armando loved the family history of cars and enjoyed learning from Jorge. Armando & Veronica married after a few years and had their 3 sons. Armando, although graduated as a computer guy, did not work as one. Right before marrying Veronica and still living in New Jersey, 9-11 happened and this was the beginning of a career change for Armando. Upon relocating from New Jersey to Florida, Veronica's uncle gave him the opportunity to apprentice with him in his collision shop. Armando grew in his skills and decided to make a career out of collision repair. After working over 10 years in the industry, Armando decided to branch off on his own and open a collision shop. After 5 years of growing the business, Veronica joined the company, leaving the banking industry. While in transition and during all of the initial phases, Jorge provided great insight, knowledge, wisdom & support to Armando & Veronica. Although Jorge is no longer with us, Armando & Veronica recall his words & advice and work towards the goals discussed with Jorge. After purchasing the El Camino from Jorge, Armando painted it from yellow with black stripes to red with white stripes. A request from Jorge, who was able to see, ride & drive the Camino. Cars are in our DNA. Passion for cars is in our DNA & we invite and share that with our children and the community.
p.s. How did we get the name for our business? A.X.K Collision Center is named after those sons' first letter of their first names. A=Adrian, X=Xavier, K=Kiano.
